A gobble gobble interview with Melyssa Connolly

Hello everyone and welcome to a fun edition of Whimsie Doodles Wednesday! What you see above is one of Melyssa Connolly's awesome digital line. This turkey looks like me on T-day! I wonder what he ate? lol! This is a real quick shot of what I did with the feathers:

Doodling on it while the copic ink is still fresh is so much fun. I used my colorless blender and tapped on the orange part, then squiggled (is that a word?) on the darker hues.
You've seen her awesome and adorable images, here is my revealing interview with Melyssa:  :D

Thank you Melyssa for doing this! Tell us a little bit about yourself, where you're from, your family life:
I was born and raised on Cape Breton Island and grew up the only “crafty” person in my family. I moved to the small town of Truro, Nova Scotia to take Graphic Design at the local college. That’s when I met and fell in love with my husband Kirk. Today we have a family of our own and when I’m not working for my 13 year old son as his personal taxi driver, seamstress, bank account, school project Forman and counsellor you’ll find me in my craft room stamping or doodling away.
On the odd occasion I’m not making paper crafts you’ll find me sewing, digital scrapbooking or following my boys around (husband and son) with my camera!

What inspired you to start the fabulous Whimsie Doodles line?
Years ago I used to make and sell digital scrapbook kits online. I loved making digital “stickers” for my kits. Then just last year I started paper crafting and stamping. But it was proving to be very frustrating as I didn’t have everything I needed! So I started making and printing off my own sentiments. Then one day by luck I found a line of cute digital stamps I just had to have. And after printing and playing with the new images I thought to myself “I can do this”. So I made my first prototypes and showed my friends the results. They loved them and with that Whimsie Doodles was born!

Whimsie is the cutest turtle, how do your images evolve, and what can we look forward to in the near future?
Right now my images are influenced by the seasons. Right now all my images are centered around winter. You’ll be seeing some Penguins, snowmen and gingerbread in the next month or so.

What are your top 3 favorite crafting items:
I can only pick three??? Well I’d have to say ribbon, sewing machine and my new Copics.

Out of your entire line of images, which one is your favorite and why?
My best friend loves anything to do with turtles and every time I see something with a turtle it reminds me of her. So while thinking of some characters I could draw my mind wondered to all the fun times I had with my best friend and I began drawing a turtle I thought she would like. Thus Whimsie was born. I was so delighted with how she turned out that I wanted to share her with everyone. So I started a blog and put her on it to download for free and now Whimsie currently resides in over 1,800 homes.

Complete these sentences:
If I was a copic color, I would be....blush pink
If I was a fairy my name would be....croppixie!!! hahahaha Ok I think my name would be Ribbon hoarder.
If I could have a dessert named after me it would be made up of:
It would have to be a homemade chocolate chip cookie fresh out of the oven. It has to be warm and full of chocolaty goodness! Hahahahaha I just realized I think I’m a hot sweet cookie with a dark side!

And finally, there are so many awesome followers on the blog and on PCP, I am sure everyone wants to know when there will be a next DT call and any other incredible news you'd like to share with them!
I am sad to say that I’ll be saying goodbye to my wonderful Doodelicous girls at the end of December. On the bright side, I’ll be putting out a call for a new team the first week of December. The new DT will start January and end in June 2010. Wow where does the time go??

Some really exciting news....well Whimsie Doodles is going Rubbah!! You will start to see some rubber stamps sometime in February! I’m really excited about this new adventure!

And I am too!! Thank you to my boss (heehee!) for taking the time to do this interview. Disregard that DT call - the current Doodlelicious girls aren't budging. lol! JK!

My first snow globe!

Hello everyone!
This is the cutest image that Melyssa made for the first 100 Whimsie Doodle members on Paper Craft Planet. It is called Snow Friends and is just the sweetest couple ever!

I finally made a snow globe card using the shaker technique. It was easier than I thought it would be! (This one is for you Ann, you inspired me with all of your beautiful snow globe cards!)
The circle was cut out with a nestie, then I attached the clear cardstock to the back of the DP.
I used Polar White Flower Soft for the inside of the globe, then mixed in glitter to have it sparkle a bit more.
I secured the image on to the rest of the layers with my ATG then decorated around it.

And here's the inside with the coordinating sentiment:

This ties in nicely with a couple of challenges this week:
Digital Tuesday's Holiday Wishes
All Sorts' Bring Out Your Bling
La-La Lands Weekly Challenge of Die Cuts and Punches
Thank you for coming by, have a safe and wonderful Wednesday!

A harvest kind of day

Hello everyone and thank you so much for popping back in! Thank you for your comments yesterday, if you would like a tutorial on the easel card, you can find the C4C site HERE with 2 links on how to make that card. It's fun and so simple!
For today, Melissa has given us a Tuesday Morning Sketch to work with. The Pixie Cottage sponsored us for this week, their awesome site can be found HERE, and they are actual rubber stamps! Woohoo! Michelle (owner of The Pixie Cottage) kindly sent the Design Team an image to work with, this is the one that came to my home:

After working with digital images, I must say that I was relieved that this was a rather large image. It has such a country feel to it, doesn't it?
Here is the sketch (mine was flipped because of the image) for you to follow:

It also ties in nicely with a challenge over at Humble Pie stamps to create a round card (NVR), so be sure to enter into both contests! For the side flourishes, I stamped the leaves again to create a vine:

The sentiment is from SU, I secured it with two eyelets, one is only layered on the front piece, the second secures both together. This is so that the card can swivel open:

Come on over and play along with us! Click HERE to see the awesome samples by the DT, and also to link up your card. You all are awesome, thanks for being a friend to me. ;)
Happy Tuesday everyone!

Easel with Izzy

Hello everyone (again)! My first post for Sunshine and Giggles is found below. Janice is having a DT call and debuting a new site so be sure to check it out!

I keep making these cards for challenges and not getting them in on time, so I decided to do a double post before I forget.

This is my first easel card, and I promise to contain myself and not do these everyday. haha! I just loved it! It's so fun to make, what a great way to showcase a card on itself.
Here are the challenges I used with this adorable new image named Izzy (Twinkle Tots line) by The Greeting Farm:

Anya Ink : color challenge {blue and orange}
Anyone For Anya?: recipe challenge {3 papers, 2 buttons, 1 bow}
Crazy 4 Challenges: Easel card
Card Patterns: Sketch challenge

A closer peek (just because I finally stopped being lazy and embossed the image first):

I received some new N copics in the mail as an early HB present! I was so happy to color Izzy up with them.
Thank you for popping in to see me! Have a wonderful rest of your day my friends.
*Love and Aloha*

You are my Sunshine, my only sunshine :D

Happy Monday everyone!
I am convinced of two things:
1) I'm getting shorter
2) the weekends are too.
lol!

Today is a Sunshine and Giggles day but first I wanted to announce a few things regarding this new and sweet company. The site has moved, the new blog link can be found HERE. She is also coming out with a new line that is soooo adorable. I've only seen a sneak peek at this little character's face, but Little Rose Nikita is just the cutest girl! I can't wait to see what designs are made with her!
Janice is also having a DT call, so get your application ready if you are wanting to design with actual rubber stamps!
Here is one of her winter images, I used the Sketch Saturday layout:

This fellow is so much braver than me! I am clueless when it comes to snow, I just know that it's cold. ;)
I colored him up with copics and then added liquid app to the trees and all around him. The MS icicle punch is my new favorite, especially since my Goopy Doop Halloween punch is tucked away for next year. :D
Be sure to check out the girls blogs to see what they've created:

Thank you for coming by on this wonderful Monday morning, I'll be back in a little while so I can meet some of the challenge deadlines with a card I made over the weekend.
Don't forget to add your name to my blog candy HERE on this post, there are more goodies going in that box everyday.
