My little tut toot...

Happy day everyone!

I am so excited to start my week off being featured in The Greeting Farm's newsletter,
with a tutorial on no-border coloring - but with a digi!

No-border coloring is basically stamping an image in a light color (i.e. flesh pink, sand, etc.) to make your image appear without lines.

While I love all of my rubber and clear stamps from The Greeting Farm, I am a digi fanatic when it comes to Marie's images.
To mimic this technique, I played around with it one evening on my computer and wanted to share it with you.

First you will need an editing software, like the free download: gimp.org (free is good!)

And now the fun begins...
When the big screen pops up, click >File and then >Open.
Select your digi that you want to lighten, in my case, it is the beautiful Autumn Fairy:

After selecting your image, this is the way your screen will look: 

Then follow these simple steps:
In the tab bar, select >Color, and then>Colorize:

This will pull up in a window:

By playing with the Hue, Saturation, and Lightness, you will manipulate the color of your digi.
Here are the settings I chose for mine:

 It's hard to see since I chose such a light flesh for this fairy, but she's there!

And now for the fun part: printing and coloring her in!
It's helpful to keep a regular image next to you for reference while coloring:

At first it may seem a bit intimidating but I always start with the flesh and then hair:
(Don't be alarmed, without borders the image always looks a bit eerie!)

And then added other details:

Well, you get the picture. heehee!
Here are a few more pics I took from my desk in progress, eventually filling in the details with a thin black multiliner pen:

When it is all done, you get a no-border image that was worth your time and concentration!

I hope you all enjoyed the tutorial! I would love to know if you tried it out as it is quite addicting.
One more important thing - when saving your manipulated image from Gimp, be sure to rename it so you don't lose your original before exporting it.
