Extreme Makeover, Card edition

Well a happy Wednesday to you! :D Come onnnnn weekend, right? My ILs (whom I LOVE) are coming to visit this Saturday. WOOHOO! They are so great, no wonder I love their son. LOL!
So on to my regularly scheduled program...

A few weeks ago, Club Anya had a VSN Luau over at PCP. OMword, it was so much fun, I cannot tell you how many times I clicked 'refresh' and still fell behind in the chatter. During the luau they presented 3 different challenges. This is the card that I made for their monochromatic challenge:

Whoa! Bright! I should have warned you. :D Look at sweet Annika from The Greeting Farm getting ready for summer! I chose yellow to celebrate the end of the school year. It's such a fun and happy color, and I am like an insect, drawn to anything vibrant. ;)
I thought this would make a perfect end-of-the-year TY card for my DD's teacher, right? I was so wrong. That sun is toooo darn heavy, plus it wouldn't even fit in any envelope. I think the ribbon is about half a yard long. haha! Hey, I was in a rush to get my card posted that night.
I ended up giving this a bit of a makeover. When life hands you the color of a lemon, you turn it into this:

Ahhh, much better! And now you can even take off your sunglasses. :D This is also a fun challenge going on over at Fun Frilled - perfect timing since we're all looking for inspiration! Go and see what their DT has created - note cards, altered boxes, WOW!

After I posted my first card to the TGF gallery, I thought how cute the sun would have been if I ran it through the CB. By that point it was too late, both in the challenge and past midnight my time. However, re-doing the elements gave me the chance to swirl the sun for this teacher's gift. It's an unfinished wooden tote from M's, the DP is from DCWV's Grade School pack that I love love love. It almost looks like Annika is standing in the playground. I filled it with extra school supplies for next school year, and a Starbucks gc so her teacher could enjoy a nice frappuccino and celebrate the start of summer.
Thank you for stopping by today, I hope you have a wonderful middle of the week day!
*Love and Aloha*
