Hi everyone and a happy Saturday to you!
Yes, you read that correctly, I am Sketch Challenged. What does that mean exactly? Well when I first started using sketches, I would do them literally. No variation. Zero, zip. Not even flipped. I would get comments like, "Wow! You really did the actual sketch!" Which, I don't think was a compliment.
But then the winning card would be this beautiful interpretation of the sketch and I thought, "Aha! Poetic (artistic) license!"

For the next sketch I would go wild. Then my comments would be:
"Wow, this is interesting! Way to go!" Which, I don't think was a compliment either. I seem to be a sketch designer's nightmare.
Ultimately I decided to follow what my heart wanted to create. Beauty, afterall, is in the eye of the beholder. (And basically when I get an idea in my head, I am too tunnel visioned to change it. lol!)
With that said, I present to you this week's incredible sketch at Modern Sugar Blvd.:
And my - ahem - interpretation:
It is an A10 (biz size) card, I made sure that my 3 elements were separate and even gave them their own cloud space. Instead of the scallops, I used my MS picket fence punch then added the primas (another requirement of the challenge is to use a flower anywhere on the card). All images can be found HERE in the shop, the deer was just rotated and enlarged for the image on the right.
I hope you decide to join us this week! The other Sugars all followed directions (ha!) and made some incredible cards, you can see them posted on the MSB blog later today. I absolutely loved all of their designs this week as they were sooo creative! Visit them at their blogs for more details (listed in my sidebar) and thank you for coming by. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
*Love and Aloha*

Love it! I think it's a great card, an excellent representation of your artistic flair!
Artistic license!!!! Gotta love it. I use it more often than not. I love your scene, it makes me smile.
Remember....if it wasn't for artistic license this world would be a very boring place.
Hugs!!!!

Joni, you are so funny! I had to laugh since we were just talking about this the other day. :D I love seeing your takes on the sketches because I am one of those that doesn't veer far from it...lol

Melyssa
well that is darling~ and I mean that in a good way!
Very cute! The clowds were a great way to create the sketch design.
I am so with you on the sketches. I either do literal, or I go off completely. Every once in a blue moon do I hit that even road in the middle! I love your interpretation. I love the little park scene you made!
Wonderful Joni.... their own cloud space! I have to admit I giggled when I read that! Terrific card.
Smiles,
Brandi
