A super duper easy tutorial - ribbon flowers

Hi friends and happy Saturday!
I wanted to share a sweet little technique that I read in a magazine, creating ribbon flowers like the orange gingham one here. All you need is a strip of ribbon approximately 6" long and a needle with coordinating thread. Now don't blink, otherwise you'll miss the tutorial:

Start on one end of your ribbon, along the edge:

Thread through in a weaving motion:

When you get to the end of the ribbon, pull on the thread until the ribbon ravels up, almost like a scunci. {Yes - I said it! I am a child of the 80s...}

Make a knot into the ribbon with the thread, just to make sure it won't come undone. Adhere with glue dots and voila! A little poofy flower. This also looks cute with a prima over it, with a brad, or with a button as I did here. I paired Summer from TGF's Roll Call set with my favorite Sassafras Me Likey sampler pack (just $1.25 at DCRU - can you believe it?!?) and Bazzill cardstock, gingham ribbon and rub-on sentiment were dusted off from my stash.
Thanks so much for coming by, enjoy this beautiful weekend! ♥

Nice tutorial Joni. I tried making one the other day, but it didn't turn out this good. It looks like a semi-circle! LOL!!

Hope you and the family are doing well.

Hugs,
Mel

Joni!!!
I have been wanting to try this and I'm going to make it a point to incoorp it in one of my next cards, love your tutorials.

Girly LMBO at scunci...HAHAHA. That brings back some serious memories for me. There was a time period that I didn't leave the house without one in my hair and I had a collection with every color possible. That comment had me seriously laughing out loud. Thanks for the giggles.

The card is lovely. I just love the colors you used.
