Transformation Tuesday

Hi everyone! I hope my use of alliteration isn't bothersome, it just gives me a reminder of what I am supposed to be doing the night before for my blog. :D
So it's Transformation Tuesday, which means that I will feature one of my all time favored projects - altering! I am a crazy recycler, so I enjoy it when the opportunity jumps out for me to re-purpose something.

This idea is not an original, I was emailed with some awesome pictures some time ago and loved it! We are checking on the original "artist" but for now I am crediting a friend of a friend whose name is Cindy. She was inspired by Nicole at PTI. Great job ladies! I've done my own take on it, I hope you will too! Enough chit chat, on to the project...
Isn't this fun?
(I guess I could have taken a more leveled picture. LOL! I was trying to get good lighting so I kept moving the camera at different angles.)
It's soooo easy. I made this in about 7 minutes for a Vday project. I used b/w and red for a change but this project is great in any color. I have the front and side view of it so you could see the effortless details.

Here are the supplies that you need:
~glue (any type is fine) or crystal effects
~foam brush for spreading glue
~decorative scissors
~piece of ribbon (about 4 inches)
~designer paper
~cardboard tube (from a paper towel roll)
~decorative punch
~coordinating brads

Directions:
Cut cardboard tube in half, mine are about 5 1/4 inches.
Measure it against DP and trim to fit w/ scissors. (Save the extra paper for add ons.)
Adhere to tube, wrapping tightly around.
Follow with ribbon in the middle.
I added another couple of punched shapes to the front, as well as the 'hugs & kisses' stamp from the SU Circle of Friendship set.
With the extra paper, punch out a larger shape for the base and adhere. (This is not only for decorative purposes, but also necessary for "filling" purposes so the treats won't fall out.)
Use scraps to make a 'handle' and secure w/ brads. You are done!
This is fun to fill with little candies and party favors.

Here are some of my tried & true tips:
Remember the wrapping paper tubes leftover from Christmas? You can make about 5 of these from one empty tube!
Any type of paper works well on this. In fact, thinner dp is awesome since it adheres to cylindrical shapes better than thicker DP or CS. I found myself having to hold the thicker paper a little longer to secure.
If you use regular glue, be sure to brush it on thin so it won't bump or bubble the dp. The most important areas are along the edges.
You can alter this for just about any occasion!
Here's one for Easter and one for a baby shower that I made.
For the Easter basket, I used orange CS and cb'd it w/ the swirls folder. Instead of a handle, I stuffed it with green shredded papers to make it look like a carrot. Then I used a brown piece of cs for the base to make it look like the ground. :D
For the baby basket, I used the retired baby DP from SU. There are cute little brads securing a 2 layered handle but they are hidden behind the baby tag.
I hope you all enjoyed this little project!
I would love to see your version. PM me on SCS if you are putting it in your gallery, or post a comment and indicate if you're putting it in your blog. Have a great rest of your day! I try to post every morning, but my 'bosses' are unpredictable. ;)
*Love and Aloha*
