the Deconstructed Sketch #96

Hey sweet friends! Happy beautiful Thursday to you all. :)
Are you ready for a fun new sketch from Jen? It's another fun one!
I used the adorable Whimsie Doodles freebie worm and sentiment.
I'm thinking that this will be great teacher appreciation cards!
The rest of the card is mostly scraps from my pile,
this fabulous ribbon was from a trip to the Offray store about 5 years ago:

Isn't he adorable? He's so much fun to color up too. :)

Now here is this week's amazing Deconstructed Sketch:

Oooh it's a fun one. I love all the embellishment opportunities!
Come stop by the Deconstructed Sketch Girls' blogs to see more inspiration:

Thank you so much for coming by today everyone!
Hang in there, it's almost the weekend. ;)

Look who is Deconstructing!!!

Happy beautiful Thursday everyone!
Even thought it is not Friday yet, I am already on cloud 9.
Earlier this week I was asked to be a Guest Designer for The Deconstructed Sketch!
Eeeek! I just love Jen's designs and her team's work!

For my debut I used the sweet new freebie called Elves Watching Girl
from Whimsie Doodles (thanks Melyssa!):

I used her on a full sized card, using the no-border technique, copics, and fun flock.
{Papers are from Recollections' Sugar Plums line, sentiment from SU}
Here is Jen's adorable sketch for the week:
I love the endless possibilities of this tag design!
Come on over and play along with us this week,
but first, be sure to stop by The Deconstructed Sketch Girls blogs
to see their beautiful creations:

Amber Hight
Amy Sheffer
Arielle Gordon
Donna Wardle
Jen Shults
Kadie Ensley
Lori Boyd
Sheri Gilson

You Leaf me Breathless!

Happy happy Thursday everyone!
I am so excited because the weekend is upon us. :)
I've been coloring - a lot - lately in between all the crazy schedules.
It helps me calm down when I'm not a taxi driver, cheerleader, or cook. lol!
This card was made with an image that Melyssa was sweetly offering as a freebie last week.
"Leaf Me" is now in the store, and SO worth the $3!
Isn't that sentiment just too sweet?
I paired him with Authentique's Gathering papers (6x6 stack),
The colors are so gorgeous with tangerines, aquas, creams, and browns.

I am entering this cutie into the following challenges:

Jackson's Digital Expressions: Brown, Teal, and Orange
Simon Says Stamp Challenge: Autumn Leaves
Crazy Amigo Challenge: Clouds
Crafty Cardmakers: Autumn

Have a beautiful day everyone, the weekend and cozy weather is upon us!

Raise the Bar's new sketch

Hello again everyone!
{For this week's FFC Friday Spy Day, please scroll down to the earlier post - thank you!}
This week at Raise The Bar, we have a sponsor AND a sketch by the wonderful
*Melyssa Connolly of Whimsie Doodles*

Here is the sketch:
For my card I used the adorable Lollipop Girl:

Late one evening I had an idea to use twine to mimic those old fashioned lollipops.
It was so simple to do! Just put down a nice, thin layer of craft glue, then using a tool,
twirl the twine from inside the circle on out.
It was actually quite therapeutic, I'll be finding more images to use my twine on. ;)

Here are some challenges I'm joining in on :
Paper Pretties: ribbon or twine
Truly Scrumptious: Love and hearts

Come on over and join in on the sketchy fun!
You can see the beautiful (and I'm not kidding) samples
You have one week to participate for your chance to win a spot as a Guest Bar-Tender!
Have a beautiful day everyone!

Hay there Chickie!

Hello sweet friends! Today starts a NEW challenge over at Raise The Bar called:
Hey Chick!

We want to see chicks on your card (or any type of baby bird or duck will do). For my card I used an adorable image from Whimsie Doodles called Koale's Chicks. Isn't he such a cutie? I paired him with BG kraft designer paper that I thought looked a lot like chicken wire. And since we're creeping up on spring, I always think of yellow galoshes to get through the rain. Come on over and play along in the fun! Here are some other challenges that I am using Koale for:

C.R.A.F.T: Animals/Pets
Tuesday Throwdown: Spring

Now it's your turn to show us your little feathered friend. Come on by and see what my awesome designers created over at Raise The Bar, this is also where you'll link up your card for a chance to be a Guest Bar-Tender.
Have a great Friday everyone, I'll be back later with a fun hop with By LORi Designs!

Summer is here!

Well, almost. Can you believe we have one more day of school tomorrow? Even though it's just a half day, it's still school. Bleh. My kids are soooo ready to start their vacation as we have fun stuff planned.
For now, let's celebrate the warmer lazy days with this card. This is one of the newest TumbleWeeds named Sitting Dottie released over at Whimsie Doodles, isn't she sooo sweet? I went a wee bit dottie crazy with the DP but at least I refrained from going overboard with embellishments. ;)
I  used a large bee brad that I bought from GAS last year - last year! Ack! (I am headed out to GAS again on Friday and just now found this. Please tell me you relate.) I paper pieced the path of a bee with my sharp tool to mimic the one on the digi. You can find the sweet images HERE on the store site.
I hope your Wednesday goes really well, we're almost to the weekend.
I will be posting a super special story on Saturday and of course, there's something in it for you! I hope you pop in then to see it. ;) Off to enjoy this beautiful warm day and get ready for DS's 6th grade graduation tonight. Yippee!
Happy day everyone! ♥

Meet May Lee

Happy Wednesday everyone!
Today's post features May Lee, the newest Tumble Weed Geisha from Whimsie Doodles. Isn't she adorable? I had this wonderful DP for a while and decided that she would be pretty in lilacs and grays. I printed out the sentiment on my computer and used kraft cardstock for the base. Using a scrap piece of the DP, I did a simple fan fold held together with a glue dot.
You can see all the newest Whimsie Doodles images HERE on the store site - they are soooo cute and hard to resist! A new challenge begins on the PCP Whimsie Doodles page today, you can find all the details HERE with my buddy Sheri hosting.
As for other exciting news in my life, our soccer team are in the championship game on Saturday! We won 3-0 yesterday to advance. Our 9yo DD plays, my DH and DS both coach (Head and Assistant) so there's a whole lot of Wilsons on the Yellow Jackets team. ;)
Have a beautiful day everyone, and be sure to celebrate being you. ♥

Happy Birthday Cody!

Hi everyone and happy Thursday!!
Well my cousin and his wife just welcomed their second son Cody into their home. He is sooo adorable! I could smell his sweet baby scent through the emailed pictures. heehee! I made this card to put in their ever growing box of goodies, I promise I'll mail it soon guys!

Isn't this sock monkey adorable? He's from Whimsie Doodles' newest release this month. There is a girl version, some fun loving monkeys, and a Mr. T one too. lol! Too funny that Melyssa! I'm determined to use up scraps from my stash so I positioned him to show off that fun DP. You can see more of the wonderful releases HERE on the WD blog and pick him up HERE at the shop.
Thank you for coming by today everyone! Have a wonderful day! ♥

Chai tea anyone?

Happy Wednesday everyone!
Whimsie Doodles just had a wonderful release over the weekend, and I am so excited to show you this new Tumbleweed named Miyako:

Isn't she so sweet? I love her kimono and I believe that is a Yixing tea set. heehee! I was so determined to cut her out and use her with the cherry blossom DP that I have; It looks like she's serving tea outdoors. The problem was, Miyako has those wonderful elements in her hair but I succeeded with a craft knife and some patience. ;) I bought a broken necklace from Claire's for a dollar, it was full of beautiful charms including this sweet silver fan.
I am entering her in to Creatalicious Challenges of "Take A Trip To the Orient" as she fits in quite nicely. I have another fabulous Geisha Tumbleweed to show you next week, but for now you can see all the new releases HERE at Whimsie Doodles' store.
Arigatou Gozaimasu for stopping by! Have a beautiful middle of the week-day. ♥

We're S-H-O-PP-I-N-G, we're shopping!

Okay really, who remembers that song from the Pet Shop Boys?!
Well this is what played in my head the entire time that I created this card:

heehee! Isn't Missy's Therapy adorable? She is the latest Tumble Weed image to hit Whimsie Doodles and is available TODAY along with the other new releases!! Throughout the month I will be showcasing the new releases, but for now, you can head on over there to pick any and all of them up - and trust me, there's A LOT!!! Have a wonderful day everyone, enjoy this beautiful God given Saturday!!

A Whimsie Doodles kind of Wednesday!

One thing nice about a long weekend is the short week. ;)
Happy Wednesday everyone! It's time for a new challenge over at our Paper Craft Planet page. This week I am hosting a color challenge - pink, blue, and yellow. Any shade, any hue, just be sure to use the color combo and any Whimsie Doodles image.
I decided to print out the newest PCP freebie that Melyssa gave out for her followers:

Isn't that a sweet image? Perfect for Father's Day this month! I printed off the image on to different gingham papers, then followed the current layout at Tuesday Morning Sketches. I also used liquid applique for her spout and a Quickutz folder for the flourish wave.
Come on over and join us! You can find Whimsie Doodles images HERE at the shop, and our PCP page HERE to see the wonderful samples by the Design Team.

This is also Whimsie Doodles' preview week as well as your chance to win the new releases!! Every day, Melyssa shows a sneak peek HERE on the blog. All you have to do is comment and you are entered for a chance to win! And oh my word, the new images are soooo adorable. ;) Here are some (too obvious) snippets:

Hop over here to the blog and take a guess, now go and have a wonderful mid-week day everyone!

Hang In There!

Happy Thursday everyone! The long weekend will soon be upon us, hang in there. ;)
This little cutie is the latest image from Whimsie Doodles' new releases this month. He is so adorable! I just love his expression. I created this card with a sketch challenge, and now I can't remember which one. ;) Don't you just love when that happens?
Nevertheless, Whimsie Doodles is now having a new challenge over at PCP - sponsored by my buddy Sheri! All you have to do is create a card with your favorite WD image, in your fave color, with your favorite embellishments. I actually made one, but didn't realize I used an unreleased image. Doink! ;) (<---As you can see, I am on a roll this week. heehee!) So I'll be sure to come up with another one as a sample. Until then, you can pop over to our PCP page HERE to see the samples by the DT. You can find this sweet bear HERE along with the other wonderful new releases at the store. Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! Thank you for coming by!

Mad For Plaid!

Hello friends and happy Wednesday to you! It's a new challenge over at Whimsie Doodles' PCP page called "Mad for Plaid." And yes, I know I used gingham, but did you know the difference between the two? heehee! I googled it out of curiosity (you know, because I only have 6 kids to care for and have all the time in the world to do stuff like that) and discovered that while they both have evenly overlapping colors, gingham uses squares while plaid uses longer right angles. And now we both know this useless info. ;)
My card uses a sketch from Sketch and Stash Challenges. This new image is from the Stitch 'Em set (a new rubber release from Whimsie Doodles). He's such a cute turtle!

Come by the Whimsie Doodles PCP page and join us with your plaid card. You can use any Whimsie Doodles image, they are all found HERE at the store (with freebies as well!). HERE is our link to the PCP page, where you can also see the other designers' adorable Mad For Plaid cards.
Thank you for coming by everyone! Have a beautiful mid-week day!

Hear me ROAR!

Hello everyone and (forgive the fake excitement) Happy Monday!! :D I know weekends fly by, but how unfair that Mother's Day weekend does too! Regardless, I do hope you enjoyed your special day.
Whimsie Doodles had a mega release last week, I am so addicted to the Stitch 'Ems set. They are so fun to color in!

I used leftover scraps for my entire card, they are piling up to a ridiculous amount so I really need to be disciplined in using them up or I will be swallowed by the pile. ;)
No sketch followed, nor any challenges with this one. I let the card create itself, the color combo just kind of fell together. Love when that happens! Edges are distressed, the MS border punch was on clearance at Michaels (by the way, they have a ton of Spring/Easter ones for $6.99 on sale!!). You can find the entire lot of new releases HERE on the Whimsie Doodles website.
Before I go, I wanted to share some sweet visitors that we've been hosting through Spring. A mama robin made her home atop a pillar on our front porch. We watched her (from afar) perch patiently on her eggs, calm and with the sweetest disposition. She is now a proud mommy, taking care of her little hungry babies. Bless her heart, they make her work! Here are a few pictures I took of them this weekend when they popped their heads out of their nest. She had to leave several times to find them more food:

Aren't they the sweetest?!? I know they'll be leaving us soon, literally making me face an empty nest syndrome. :( I found an amazing site HERE that has beautiful pictures chronicling one woman's experience with a robin's nest under her window. Since our pillar is quite high, we've only had a ground's eye view of what miracle transpired. Sigh. Mother Nature is so wonderful. :D
Have a beautiful Monday everyone! And now I TRULY mean it!!

Whimsie Doodles is having a week of fun over at the blog - including giveaways, sneak peeks, and a major prize package to one lucky winner on Wednesday's blog hop! Today's new image that we are debuting comes in actual rubber, called Every Other Day:

Don't you just love that cupcake hot air balloon? This set comes with tons of extras, I decided to do something a bit different and do a CAS card. Problem was, I needed more dimension so I popped up the cloud, top of the balloon, then stitched in a faux hill. heehee! Guess I can't do CAS any more...

I am so excited to have been with Melyssa from her debut, her images are amazing and so unique, and she is the sweetest and talented person ever. :D

I paired her with some fun coordinating papers from JoAnn's - love the happy spring colors!

She must be gardening early in the morning, thus that weird shadow on the card. lol!
